Fixed term appointment for 9 months, Full-time

A full time Research Assistant is required to support the History UoA research theme ‘Material Cultures of the Medieval and Early Modern Periods’ at the University of Huddersfield. You will work with the Medieval and Early Modern staff group to extend the work of staff and PGRs associated with the group. The RA will focus on the following priorities:

  • Providing research assistance and contributing to the REF outputs of the Medieval and Early Modern staff group.
  • Support grant applications of the group’s staff and apply for funding to develop their own role.
  • Support the development of a formal Research Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Material Cultures [MEMMC].
  • Along with academic colleagues, develop partnerships with non-academic partners and lead heritage focused workshops with academic and non-academic partners.
  • Support Impact activities of members through research activities, networking and event organisation.
  • Work with members to mount an international conference in Autumn 2016.

The post is full time for 9 months. You will have a PhD in Medieval and/or Early Modern History and have experience of collaboration with external organisations in the heritage sector. The History subject area has a strong research culture and in the most recent research exercise (REF 2014) 100% of research produced by History at Huddersfield was internationally recognised, and two thirds was rated as internationally excellent or world-leading.
